John R. DeQuardo, M.D., brings nationally renowned expertise in Clinical Psychopharmacology to Steven Pitt & Associates. He earned his M.D. at Medical College of Wisconsin and graduated from University of Wisconsin - Whitewater with his B.S. in psychology. He completed his psychiatry residency at University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and his post-doctoral fellowship at University of Michigan Schizophrenia Program - Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. DeQuardo has spent his professional career studying and treating individuals suffering from psychotic and severe mood disorders, including the pharmacologic treatment of schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. DeQuardo has spent his career working in acute inpatient psychiatric hospitals. The former Superintendent of the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo (CMHIP), Dr. DeQuardo is currently an Attending Psychiatrist at CMHIP and the President of the medical staff.
In addition to being a reviewer of scientific studies for multiple scholarly publications, Dr. DeQuardo has 65 research/clinical publications and made more than 90 scholarly presentations at scientific meetings. He has been a faculty member at University of Wisconsin and University of Michigan, and is currently a Senior Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
